Camden

"Lots and lots of people at Camden this morning with brooms no rubbish left though and no one to organise cleaning operation. The wombles got there first!"

Hackney

"Just saw your website questions.  Went to Hackney Town Hall at about 10.20 - streets were looking good, with Hackney Council out in force.  Lots of people standing around with brooms hoping to help but nothing left to clean. There was apparently some more work to be done around Amhurst/Pembury Road but everyone who'd left Bethnal Green was already on the case.  In the 40 mins I was there, a good 30 people arrived, saw there was nothing left to do and dispersed, most to go to Clapham.

In short, it was pretty much sorted.  The main point is that people turned up and shifted the focus back onto localism/community."

"6am in Hackney, near Pembury Tavern, elderly man helping one of the cleaning crews take a trash bin back down stairs to its proper place. More moral support than physical strength, but a great thing to see first thing in the morning."
