I'm assuming it would be helpful to turn up with stuff to help clean up with? Refuse sacks, brushes etc...and remember, there might be a lot of glass, so could be a good idea to wear protective gloves/heavy boots?

Does anyone have any idea of how much damage was caused? It felt strange watching it on the news, it didn't feel like I was watching my own country

wandsworth waste management guy informs me that it will be at least 4 hours before anyone can help with the cleanup.

We are still in Italy, have been following some of the story on Italian TV - we will not be back till Thursday, so for now can only send a message of support to the clean-up volunteers - what a splendid initiative!

I used to live in Croydon, and it was so upsetting to see the town burning on TV (as well as all the other places round the country). We now live a long way from any of the trouble, but I wanted to say thank you to everyone involved for taking the initiative.

Any news of help needed in Birmingham. All looked pretty sorted when I got there this morning but would like to help. Things like this help to restore my faith in humanity.
10 months ago Ella Moore responded:
I'm not cleaning up a thing! Neither should anyone else that weren't involved in this rioting. Let the politicians and the PC brigade, who've caused this with their softly softly approach to child rearing, come to our areas and clean up this mess. They've basically stopped us from disciplining our children, and this is the result, kids literally running riot.
10 months ago Jacqui eaves responded:

it's not going tohappen and it shows good support for our country that these people have done this for us.

Well done guys, and if there's any more cleaning up tomorrow, I'm happy to come and help, I missed this today!!
Thank you!!

Fantastic initiative - and while they're at it they could clean away the scum that is soiling the streets of Manchester and the Midlands. I'm shocked at this and even though I live in Sweden I feel so badly for the poor people affected by this. Sadly it's getting so much publicity here that people will be cancelling holidays - the Swedish foreign office has gone out with travel warnings of the type usually issued for the Middle East. How this will affect tourism is anybody's guess. I feel so sad for the ordinary people left homeless - my daughter and I had a wonderful time in London in July and are saddened by the terrible scenes. Good luck - I hope you manage to get it sorted. God bless!
9 months ago James responded:
Hi, does anyone know of any clean up operations that are happening in Birmingham? I would like to help.
9 months ago Klaas Schraa responded:
We all need to learn to bear the concrete consequences of our actions.
So please leave some scrum for these youngsters and stop their unemployment and summer-boredom by forcing them to rebuilt these shops and houses with the same hands that now have destroyd them.

Klaas Schraa, Amsterdam

Hi Guys, MRP London are currently in talks with the councils that were effected in the riots. MRP London is doing its part to help re-build the effected areas with beautiful images displayed of the good spirited community of London coming together in this time. These images will contribute to bringing the effected areas back to life and show community spirit. Those that have been involved with the riot clean up or have managed to capture any images of the community spirit while the clean up is/was taking place if you can please email these to cleanupimages@mrplondon.com. Thanks in advance x
